The Kelah Sanctuary at Lubuk Tenor is a protected spot along Tahan River that hosts a magnificent river fish species - the Golden Mahseer known locally as 'Kelah' (Peninsular Malaysia) or 'Empurau' (Borneo). Located about 7km away from Park Headquarters, the sanctuary can be reached via jungle trail or 15-minute speedboat ride (the latter often as a stopover along the journey to Lata Berkoh).
Here, visitors can purchase pellets to feed the fish in the water, which will scurry and throw themselves in a frenzy around their feet. Visitor can also swim with these tame fishes, which even allow themselves to be carried (gently) by hand out of the water for a quick photo shoot.
