Food

Taiping

Taiping is part of the Perak Food Trail, a heritage culinary destination that features mostly Chinese hawker stall specialties such as Char Keow Teow (stir-fried flat noodles, the Taiping version uses fishballs instead of shrimp), Yong Tau Foo (assortment of meats stuffed in tofu and vegetables) and Popiah (spring roll dish with sliced radish, egg and meat inside).

Across town, visitors can find delicious local food sold from traditional coffee shops ('Kopitiam') among colonial shophouses, large food courts that assemble various hawker stalls and open-air food stalls nestled below shopping complexes and markets. Prices are also cheaper that eating the same dishes in Kuala Lumpur, and much more so than Singapore.
