Kepong

Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) is a regenerated rainforest plantation in Kepong, accessible from PJ via LDP Highway, used for the study and development of local timber resources. Established in 1926 from a logged area stripped of original vegetation, native hardwood and herbal species were reintroducted over time to create the sprawling forest seen today that covers 600 hectares.

Adjacent to Bukit Lagong Forest Reserve 16km away from Kuala Lumpur, FRIM houses laboratories, gardens, a herbarium, museum and many other nature attractions for visitors. A canopy walk held by suspension bridges provides a dramatic view of the rainforest while jungle trails provide avid hiking adventures. Open daily from 5.30am till 7.30pm, an entrance fee is charged.
