Pantai Batu Hitam is a beach resort destination located 4km north of Kuantan on the coastal strip of Balok, just after passing Beserah on the main road. The beach gets its name from a unique feature along its landscape - large beds of rocks, varying in shades from grey to bluish black, carpet parts of the sandy shoreline at low tide. 'Batu' means stone and 'Hitam' is black; hence, the name.
The stones are pebbly closer to shore but get larger when further out to sea. Occupying only a segment of the area, the rest of the surrounding beach and sea are clear from natural debris. Public facilities are available, including a hawker center, car park, walkway with benches and restrooms.
