Cherating Turtle Sanctuary is an sea turtle information center and hatchery located 45km north of the city along the coast on the beach, about 2km north of Pantai Cherating. Situated next to the entrance of Club Med, the center incubates the eggs of green and hawksbill turtles, then releases them to increase their chances of survival in the wild.
Also on display at the center are live specimens of adult and juvenile turtles including endangered freshwater species. A night tour is available during nesting season (May-Aug) that allows visitors to follow rangers on their egg collection patrols. Open daily from 9am till 5.30pm (closes on Mondays), entrance is free to public.
